Big holding deposits are one of the most common complaints about renting a car abroad — hundreds of euros locked on your card for the length of your trip. We keep our deposits as low as we reasonably can, and we’re upfront about the amount before you book, not at the counter.
Why deposits exist
The deposit covers any damage or issues found at return. It’s fully refunded once the car’s checked and everything matches how it left our lot — most refunds are processed within a few days of drop-off.
How to reduce your deposit further
- Choose a smaller vehicle category (deposits typically scale with car size and value)
- Ask about additional excess-reduction cover if you’d rather pay a small amount up front for extra peace of mind
- Pay by credit card where possible — some providers require it for the hold
